Oil on Canvas Painting Mid Century 1950-60s
This painting came from the dispersion Estate Sale of the 'lost' Paris Gallery Poisson d'Or owner Jacqueline Chardon Lejeune 1926-2008
She was the lover for 6 years of the Roumanian painter Victor Brauner Dadaist and Surrealist
When their affair ended she 'disappeared' from the Paris Art World and she set up an artists community buried deep in the countryside in the Gers region of France where she encouraged well known artists to experiment with different mediums and techniques
Latterly ever active and much loved she organised many exhibitions
Upon her death that house was shut with all the artists artwork inside for several years until her lifetime collection was finally sold amid much disagreement.
Due to French inheritance laws some of the artists who were still alive had to bid on their own works that were unsigned against Parisian art dealers in order to buy them back to be able to sell again themselves ...
