Harry Joseph Payne born in Newington London
He worked with his brother producing Arthur Payne Oilette postcards for Ralph Tuck and Sons and did extensive work for Gale and Podden producing illustrations for thier postcards series along with other military artists Edgar Alfred Holloway, John McNeill and Ernest Ibbetson
In 1898 he and his brother created a series of chromographic and lithographic illustrations for an edition of Robert Brownings The Pied Piper of Hamelin
Harry Payne was a part time volunteer soldier with the Queens Own West Kent Yeomanry
In 1905 he received the Imperial Yeomanry Lond Service Medal having reached the rank of sergeant
